AMS 2700 Passivation for Aerospace and Defense in India

Aerospace and defense parts demand clean, corrosion-resistant metal and a full paper trail. We inspect, clean, derouge, descale, polish, electropolish, and passivate to AMS 2700 using safe citric acid based CitriSurf technology, at your site or at our premises, and hand you the records your compliance team needs.

Aerospace component requiring AMS 2700 compliant passivation

Why is passivation for aerospace and defense so demanding?

In aerospace and defense, meeting cleanliness standards is only part of the job. Health, safety, documentation, and environmental policies all add to the challenge. The demand is not just on the result, but on proving it. Every passivation job has to hit tight cleanliness and corrosion-resistance targets and carry clear records, so the part and the process both stand up to inspection.

The Standard

What standard applies to aerospace passivation?

AMS 2700 is the recognized standard for passivation of corrosion resistant steels in aerospace and defense. It sets the cleanliness and corrosion-resistance requirements a passivated surface has to meet, and it accepts citric acid passivation as a method in its own right. We passivate to AMS 2700 using citric acid based chemistry, which reaches the same standard as older nitric acid methods without the fumes, the burn risk, or the waste handling.

Method 2. Under AMS 2700, the citric acid route is Method 2. Nitric acid is Method 1. Since our passivation is citric acid based, Method 2 is the one that applies to our work.

Technical Expertise

The technical expertise behind the work

Passivation to an aerospace standard is not a chemical purchase. It is a judgment call on material, surface condition, method, and proof. That judgment is where our team spends its time.

That mix matters on an aerospace job. Equipment manufacturing experience tells you how a part was made and where contamination hides. Operations experience tells you how to run a repeatable, documented process rather than a one-off clean.

The instruments

Our inspection instruments are imported and fully calibrated. We measure the surface before we touch it, so the method is chosen from evidence rather than assumption, and we measure again afterward so the result is recorded, not claimed.

Which metals we treat for aerospace and defense

Aerospace is not a stainless steel only industry, and our chemistry does not assume it is. CitriSurf 77 Plus works on all stainless steel grades, Hastelloy alloys, aluminum, and corrosive material. It is citric acid based, US origin, with a pH of approximately 1.6, and it is applied direct with no dilution by spray, immersion, or wiping.

Stainless steel

Cleaning, derouging, descaling, mechanical polishing, electropolishing, and citric acid passivation to rebuild the chromium-rich protective layer.

Titanium and titanium alloys

Descaling and cleaning, covered by ASTM B600, which CitriSurf 77 Plus meets.

Hastelloy alloys and aluminum

Cleaning and treatment with the same citric acid based chemistry.

Service Available at Site

We come to you, or you send the parts to us

We work where the equipment is. Aerospace and defense parts are often too large, too fixed, or too controlled to ship, so on-call service at your site is the default rather than the exception.

1On-call service at your site

Our teams travel to your plant with the chemistry and the calibrated instruments. We inspect, clean, derouge, descale, polish, electropolish, and passivate in place, with controlled temperature, flow, and pressure.

Most requested on-site: mechanical polishing and electropolishing. Both are available on-call at your plant.

2Work at our premises

If a part is easier to treat off-site, or you want a batch handled under our roof, we take it at our premises and return it with the same inspection report and records.

3Pan-India coverage

Our on-site service runs through three regional teams, so a site visit does not wait on one office.

What We Do for Aerospace

Our services for aerospace and defense

We handle the full surface treatment cycle, at your site or at our premises, and close every job with an inspection report and the documentation your quality team files.

Inspection & Monitoring

Imported, calibrated instruments find what is actually wrong before anything is applied.

Cleaning

Remove free iron, residue, and contamination before passivation.

Derouging

Remove rouge from stainless steel surfaces and systems.

Descaling

Remove scale after installation and on titanium under ASTM B600.

Mechanical Polishing

At your site or at our premises, to repair and refinish the surface.

Electropolishing

Smooth, clean, low-roughness, corrosion-resistant surfaces.

Passivation

To AMS 2700, using citric acid based CitriSurf technology.

The right procedure to maintain it

Documented, so your team can hold the surface between visits.

Documentation and Compliance

How our work helps you achieve, monitor, and maintain compliance

For aerospace and defense, a passivated part is only as good as the paperwork behind it. Our job is not a one-time clean. It runs in three parts.

1

Achieve

We bring the surface to the condition AMS 2700 asks for, using citric acid based chemistry, and record what was done and to which standard.

2

Monitor

Our imported, calibrated instruments check the surface over time, so you see a problem while it is still cheap to fix.

3

Maintain

We hand over the procedure and the frequency to hold that surface, so compliance is a routine rather than a scramble before an audit.

That paper trail is what lets your parts pass inspection and stay traceable through the supply chain.

Safer Chemistry

Safer citric acid chemistry

We passivate with citric acid based chemistry rather than nitric acid. It reaches the cleanliness and corrosion-resistance targets aerospace and defense demand, while being safer for your team and easier on the environment. That means fewer fumes, less hazard on the floor, and simpler waste handling, without giving up on the result.

In Short

Rouging Solutions provides inspection and monitoring, cleaning, derouging, descaling, mechanical polishing, electropolishing, and passivation for aerospace and defense components across India, built to AMS 2700, the passivation standard for corrosion resistant steels. The company treats stainless steel, titanium and titanium alloys, Hastelloy, and aluminum, using citric acid based CitriSurf technology that meets AMS 2700, ASTM A967, ASTM A380, and ASTM B600 while being safer than nitric acid. Work is carried out on-call at the customer's site or at Rouging's own premises, with pan-India coverage through West, South, and North regional teams and a response time within 24 hours. Rouging Solutions is run by three directors with more than 60 combined years of industrial experience, inspects with imported and calibrated instruments, and closes every job with an inspection report so customers can achieve, monitor, and maintain compliance.

Aerospace Passivation FAQs

Which standard do you follow for aerospace passivation?

Do you use citric acid or nitric acid for aerospace parts?

We use citric acid based passivation. Under AMS 2700 that is Method 2. It reaches the cleanliness and corrosion-resistance targets the standard requires, without the fumes and hazards of nitric acid.

Do you provide service at our site?

Yes. On-call service at the customers site is our normal way of working, and we cover India through West, South, and North regional teams. If a part is easier to treat off-site, we also work at our own premises. We respond within 24 hours.

Can you do mechanical polishing and electropolishing at site?

Yes, both. These are the two our customers most often want done in place, so we bring them to your site. They can also be done at our premises if that suits the part better.

What technical expertise stands behind the work?

Three directors with more than 20 years each, over 60 combined years, spanning pharma equipment manufacturing, construction equipment manufacturing, and operations. Dr. Chandrakant Prajapati holds a Ph.D. in Operation Management. Our inspection instruments are imported and fully calibrated.

Do you work on titanium as well as stainless steel?

Yes. Titanium is common in aerospace, and ASTM B600 covers descaling and cleaning of titanium and titanium alloy surfaces. CitriSurf 77 Plus meets ASTM B600, and also works on Hastelloy alloys and aluminum.

Do you provide documentation for compliance?

Yes. Every job closes with an inspection report and clear records, so your quality and compliance teams have proof of what was done and to which standard.

Why does aerospace passivation need so much documentation?

In aerospace and defense, a part must be traceable and provable. Clear passivation records let parts pass inspection and stay traceable through the supply chain.
